The following downloadable document is taken from the advice booklet issued by Northern Ireland Electricity plc to assist those involved in work or excavation in the vicinity of underground services.

It is based on Northern Ireland Electricity's interpretation of the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive document HSG 47 "Avoiding Danger from Underground Services".

The advice in this document is not intended to be a substitute for the advice given in HSG47, however it is intended to give more detailed advice in relation to work in the vicinity of underground electrical cables and improve the communications between the contractor and NIE plc.
